So glad you posted this. Mean Gene = greatness.
Jake deserves a lot of credit too (I picked him as my Wrestlemania Woodshed character for a reason). He was an incredible, ahead of his time performer. The way he uses eye contact, the sinister smiling, the amazing control over his voice. In an era where wrestling was mostly just fat guys yelling really loudly, Jake was nuanced and subdued. Mean Gene was good at making things believable but he was only as good as the wrestlers he played off of and Jake is one of the best of all time.
Yeah, Jake was one of the best at cutting a good promo. He said what he would do is purposely speak softly to get you to listen more closely and turn up the volume.
I think all four of you have just snapped into a Slim Jim.
